Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal hike is a extremely observed Eco-tourism way in the Annapurna Himalaya area. Mardi Himal is located east of the Modi Khola River, across the valley from Hiunchuli. The trek takes you off the beaten track, away from busy trails and has the essence of exploration and adventure, not a teahouse or restaurant in sight as we will camp and cook all our meals on the campfire! Mardi Himal Trek offers an opportunity to escape the Annapurna Region's tourist trails and venture into the deep forests and high alpine pastures at the base of Machhapuchhare Himal (the famous Fish Tail Mountain). There are very basic tea houses or lodges therefore this is a camping trek. After a short drive to Phedi from Pokhara, you climb steeply up to Dhampus. From here the trail follows a ridge covered with enchanted forest of birch, giant rhododendron, mountain oak and maple trees. You will encounter breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhare ranges and valleys. As we climb higher, the flora and fauna change until we come to an excellent alpine camp site at Guhe. From here you can do a day trip to Mardi Himal base camp experiencing excellent views of Annapurna I and the south face of Machhapuchhare.

We ascend through traditional villages and pristine oak and rhododendron forests to an alpine campsite that has an up-close view of Mount Machhapuchhre, Mardi Himal and Mount Annapurna. The great rice fields and the blue glaciers of the Annapurana sanctuary walls lie below the trail. Descent is via a different route, through a lush valley and picturesque villages on the bank of the River Mardi.Untouched by modernization, this trekking route is a unique experience offering magnificent mountain views and a chance to venture into thick forests, mountain wildernesses and villages that have not felt the full impact of tourism. Along the trail, you will be treated to spectacular views of some of the world’s biggest and most beautiful mountains; Dhauglagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) (6988m) etc. We camp every night of this trek allowing you to sleep under the stars and the watchful eyes of the majestic Himalayas.
